I have quite a few amps, but for pedal steel, this '66 blackface Twin Reverb is probably my favorite right now, at least if the stage volume isn't pretty well controlled:

I use the Fryette Power Station (sitting on top) to tame the beast for dual use with guitar.

In the background: '68 Showman stack (surf's up, but people freak out if I bring it to even a surf band gig), '66 Vibrolux Reverb, 5D3 tweed Deluxe.

Best sounding amp I've played thru was a Fender old Bandmaster. Great texture, fabulous onboard reverb.

My favorite amp is an Evans FET500, crystal clear tone with a tubey edge.

My Evans SE200. Full body tone & reliability. My wife
gave it to me on my 50th birthday 11 years ago. We're
both still going strong. I could really put the mud stand
to good use. Thanks for doing this.

I prefer my Nashville 112 it sounds great sitting on a plastic crate, but I bet it would sound even better on a Mud Stand. Thanks, Tommy......

My favorite is my late 70's Fender Bassman Ten. Converted from 4x10 to 1x15. Very versatile and almost no gain even at high volume. Great for steel and also takes pedals very well. Use it for steel and take-off guitar too.

My favorite amp, out of the two I own, is a Carvin X60 tube amp and by golly it would be swell on a MudStand!

Sounds good with the acoustic Hawaiian as well when I don't want to set up two amps.

My Favorite is a Fender Twin with a hand built point to point chassis. Perfect Black face sound and enough head room for any gig I do.

Session 500 for home practice, Nashville 400 if I play out. Thirty years ago it would have been the other way.

I’m guessing my 78’ Webb, 74’ Twin, Session 400, or Steel King would sound much better on a MudStand and save my back on lugging a heavy amp stand with me🤠

My favorite amp for pedal steel is an old Gold Face Stereo Steel I bought used. You can pick these up pretty reasonable used here on the forum, or new for a lot less than some of the other "for steel" amps, and IMO, it sounds great! I have my choice of speakers - currently running a Telonics 12 and a Sica 15. It sounds great at practice levels at home just running one channel, or you can crank it up with 300 watts per channel X 2 channels, and make the drummer cry uncle!

Thanks to everyone who participated in our contest and thanks to the forum for letting us do this. It was very interesting to read your posts every day. I thought I was really well versed on all the amps steel players use, but you guys pulled a few ringers on me.

Anyway, on to the important part...the winners are...

Jim Cohen from Pennsylvania
Tony Glassman from the Great Northwest
Stu Shulman from New York

If you guys will PM me your shipping address, we will get Mud Stands in the mail to you first of the week.

Thanks again to everyone who participated and to all the forum members who have purchased Mud Stands. If you didn’t win and want to order one, here is the link... www.mudstand.com

Congratulations to the three winners! I didn't enter this contest because I already have a Mud Stand. The three of you will really enjoy these amp stands. They are light weight, durable, and it looks cool with my amp!

Steelaire Rackmount with Telonic's cabinet and speaker. Why? Convenience of split system and splitting the weight. Easy EQ and smooth sound.
