Be sure to check out the Steel Guitar show if you don't already know about it in Dallas.
Lots of Bands around the area. Jake Hookers band always has a great steel player and is one I would check out if can get to him.
Jody Cameron plays in and around the Houston area. But he checks the forum quite frequently. Rick Price is another guy you should check out, too. Texas is the last frontier for steel guitar.
Ricky Davis in Austin along with Herb Steiner and others. Hope this helps.

Well there won't be steel, and it's not true country, but I play guitar in a six-piece New Orleans style swing band at the Free Man Cajun Cafe in Deep Ellum (downtown Dallas) on Thursday nights from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. If you happen to be bored and hungry/thirsty on a Thursday night, come on down and be sure to introduce yourself! _________________ If something I wrote can be interpreted two ways, and one of the ways makes you sad or angry, I meant the other one.

I’ll be at the Cotton Country Club in Granger, TX on March 4 with Jeff Woolsey. Great food and great atmosphere in a real life, old time saloon. |

I will be playing the "Best Little Cowboy Gathering" in La Grange with Jake Hooker on March 9th and 10th, but of course you will be at the TSGA show.
I am also playing with Jake at Riley's Tavern in Hunter, Texas on March 16th. Riley's is a cool place and it is close to New Braunfels, right off I-35.
Would love to meet you Thomas! _________________ Tommy Detamore

On March 9th, I will be in Dallas at Sundown at Granada with my group starting late around 1030 or so. It's a more rockin' thing with a younger crowd, not traditional country, if you are in to that kind of thing.
I'm gonna head over there after catching Lloyd and JDs sets! _________________ My site

Along with Jody Cameron and Tommy Detamore, steelers the weekend of 8-10 March will also include Jim Loessberg, Kenny Grohman, Adam Goodale, and I can't recall who plays for Billy Mata and Jason Roberts. So at least seven steel players! |
