I hope I did good! My first real steel was a S-10 Classic I had built for me in 1976! I went to U-12 a few years ago with a nice Sierra and now have a Carter U-12.

Any suggestions, comments appreciated. Maybe a Jerry Wallace pickup?? Anyone know this steel and possibly some history>

This is one of the earlier Mica guitars. I have one like it (only white) that has been retrofitted with the Siierra interchagable pickup system. After trying out several different pickups, I settled on a Jerry Wallace True Tone. I also have a George L E-66 for situations where I need a humbucker.

Since your guitar has a double reaise and lower changer, I suggest you send it to Tom Bradshaw to have his little doo-dads inserted into the changer that will convert a lower to a raise and allow you to tune each raise seperately at the endplate on the strings that have 3 of them.

Sounds like the Truetone may be the way to go. I have one on my Carter and love it!

Maybe I can get the stuff from Tom for the changers. I am pretty mechanically inclined.

Still not sure just what you were explaining. I am a little slow on things at times! Once I got it, I never lose it!!!

Thanks also, David. I will send Maurice the number ASAP.

Looks like a great deal to me. I recently purchased a pristine 73 D-10 Classic; monster jazz tone on the C6 neck. I love Reece's tone on the compilation that just came out--sounds like many of those cuts were done on a MSA mica universal 12.

There is a good explanation of the Bradshaw gizmo on this posting: http://steelguitarforum.com/Forum5/HTML/010656.html

Have fun!

Could not get the link to work. I could use the info. I got this back from Tom:

"Yes, an "insert" (as I call it) can be installed by you.
Go on the Forum and see if anyone has a copy of one of my
old Steel Guitar Cassette Club Newsletters (I don't) in
which the article appeared. Ask if whoever has it will
photograph (or scan) the page and pictures that show how it
is done, then post it on the Forum. It could be that it
has already been done. You might inquire about that. If
you can't get the info there, I'll make you up one of the
inserts and the other parts needed to install the triple
raise (or lower) that you need. shortened pulling tubs and send it to you"

Any help appreciated,
Ken
