I cannot find any steels with a trapezoid pup or the model?
This was given to me from a friends widow, I'm just gonna stick with the Tele so any information about it or the value.
Thanks for your help.

I think it's called a Fender Deluxe, kind of a single neck version of a Dual 8 Professional (the original Fender console steels). The trapezoid pickup is a single coil. They have a lot of fans, but there is a cardboard bobbin inside that sometimes shrinks and causes issues. I think they're worth a few hundred dollars.

NOT a steel-player but trying to learn more about the instruments . . .
Perhaps-helpful/pertinent info from Gruhn's Guide to Vintage Guitars, 3rd ed.,
p. 133:

Fender Steels
Deluxe:
. . . Trapezoid-shaped pickup with bass end wider than treble end, strings though pickup: late 1948

Besides the known issue (sometimes) of the pickup problem, another common problem can be the tuners.
It appears that there are no legs. No leg sockets either?

IF the pickup and the tuners are all working well, this is a very desirable guitar. There are people who prefer the Dual Pro to the Stringmaster but only want a single neck 8 string.
Because this can be the perfect fit for the right person, I'd start out asking no less than $800. I think on a good day you could get more and if you are highly motivated, you can accept less.

This would be for perfect working condition.
And this, of course, is just my opinion.

Here's just the top few past listings I found on Reverb...now, not all of them sold, and they are in varying conditions and ages (older ones I assume more collectible), but seem to be in the $800 on up arena...not that I have any special knowledge.
https://reverb.com/item/2419056-1951-fender-deluxe-8-lap-steel
https://reverb.com/item/2303196-fender-deluxe-8-lap-steel-1950s
https://reverb.com/item/5807166-fender-deluxe-8-lap-steel-1953-blond
https://reverb.com/item/1054737-fender-deluxe-8-lap-steel-1950-s-walnut-s-n-401

It does look like its in good condition. I'm not in the market given what its worth (sadly, though, as I'm local and that walnut finish would match my Stringmaster! Smile ) Good luck with your sale.

I wouldn't take a few hundred for my mint Fender Duo 6 if it was even for sale. It would take several hundred dollars. In the meantime,- I have a lot of music items that could be sold but no one seems interested. LOLuck

I was thinking about $700, but you could certainly ask more. Nice that it's 8 strings, but tuner and pickup condition as mentioned and legs/no-legs are considerations. Being a single neck the legs aren't that big a deal I don't think, but those tuners are difficult to repair or replace if they're not in good working order. These were made well into the 1950s, so there's also the question of how early it is.

The last one that sold on Ebay went for $1250

Yours looks to be in great condition.

Ebay prices can be a bit on the high side but "a few hundred" is crazy. I'd say it's got to be worth at least $800, maybe more.

Given that this particular model never came with legs, I'd say the absence of legs is absolutely no consideration at all.

And with Fender steels, the year or manufacture has just about zero effect on price.

YES: I'll offer Wally several hundred dollars for that double 6!

I actually haave 2 Fender Dual Pro 6s --No problems with pick-ps or tuners (one is a tad bent, but that's it).

I will be putting one up for sale--the one on my profile pic--in a week or two, FYI.

The most reliable guidelines for Reverb and eBay are the "sold" item prices on eBay. Not "closed, not "this listing has ended -

- and listing prices on either one are completely irrelevant. Some commercial sellers list things at high prices for no reason other than to look "high end" - others work together and list items at high prices to try to help drive up prices for a friend that will be selling the same thing a month later.

The only numbers that have meaning are the "sold" prices, and those are only shown on eBay.
