Stripped the Blonde finish off ( had to heavily scarred) found this ... what the heck ... see 2nd pic
Any advice ....

If you're talking about the drilled hole, it's for the rod that connected and tightened additional bodies to make a multi-neck instrument.
And then the diamond shaped covers went over the ends.
Google fender stringmaster and look at some images.
Otherwise, I'm not sure what you mean... |

I was talking about the reddish stain.
This was a Blonde ... stripped it down and this reddish stain is in two places .... |

No telling. Maybe somebody started with the wrong stain, wiped it off and covered it up. It was a messy disorganized shop making a lot of different things at once, although Forrest White was maybe straightening some things out by this point. These guitars were also available in a chocolate brown, but I can't offhand recall how early that was. |
