Don't laugh! I am new to this and don't know what I am doing. I am fumbling my way through songs I can handle on Youtube. I came across this song from Moe Bandy. It was one of my favorites a long, long time ago. It has some nice steel in it. I am playing GAC strings on my lap steel tuned C6 and I was wondering what chord I am playing. I know nothing about music and play by ear. These 3 strings sound good to me on the song below. Can anyone tell me what chord those 3 strings make? ........I know it's a simple question for you veterans. Thanks in advance.

It might depend a bit on context...ie what the bass player is doing, etc. But on its face that's (open) 5-6-1 of the C sixth chord, without the major third.
With just those three tones, it could be other things...b7-1-b3 giving you Aminor7 without the 5th. 1-2-4 would be a somewhat incomplete suspended G chord (sus 4 add 9 no 5th?) as long as the rest of the music filled in the gaps.
But hey don't ask me, I just signed up for a fundamentals of music theory class on Coursera. Steel guitar is forcing this former bassist to pay more attention to chord theory! _________________ Waikīkī, at night when the shadows are falling

Song is a 1-4-5 in the Key of D
Sounds like a straight D inversion with the Root on top.
So F#, A, D
Then the song goes to the 4 then the 5 _________________ Stefan
