| It does include shipping from Japan, which isn't chicken feed, and they do take offers. However... am I wrong, or does this have the later under-string pickup? It's hard to see under that hand rest, but I thought they only added the hand when after the horseshoe magnets went away. |

I don't know but it would make sense that it wouldn't be a horseshoe pickup...to add a cover over what essentially operates as a cover already is bulking up the instrument. I think Rickenbacker, like they did with the 4001/3 basses, wanted to preserve the "look" more than provide a useful handrest. There are a lot of arguments in favor of the non-horseshoe pickups (especially for the basses), but if I was going to spend that kind of money on a vintage Ric steel I'd probably hold out for a horseshoe version.......just, because!

Look on the 5th photo, you can clearly see the horseshoe is missing. The cover also looks to have been glued on, no expert but it looks to have been modified at some stage. I'm quite sure Rickenbacker never used some black looking epoxy or glue to attach the pickup cover. Lots of work went in to making that cover.
