I was wondering if anyone uses a Quilter Toneblock along with a stand alone speaker. Does it work well? Are there drawbacks? I am thinking of my back. Thanks friends. |

I do. I love it. It works well with my Telonics and JBL speakers. Sounds great for PSG and Tele.

I opted for the Pro Block because of the onboard reverb. Pretty much the same unit, otherwise. I'm very impressed but I have not gigged it yet. I'm still trying to find the happiest speaker pairing from the cabs & speakers I have on hand (too many...can't bring myself to buy anything new). My favorite, a Weber Cali, will probably get the nod with some other options available if/when I need the more power handling that the Quilter has but the Weber does not. |

Hi Jeff:
I use the TB201 through a JBL K-120, and it's a lighter, more portable solution for pedal/lap steel gigs where I don't need a huge rig. Plenty of power for a mic'd small room, and I've used it in a mic'd large room a few times with good results. The tone options take a little getting used to, but they are very flexible, and I don't miss having reverb as I prefer using an outboard unit (Strymon Flint). Again, very compact and portable.
This is off topic, but thought I would also share that I recently used my Micro-45 (the size of a stomp pedal) for a dance gig the other night, again through a JBL K-120, and it sounded great. The EQ is much more basic (one knob) but I was really pleased with the sound of my lap steel. The cabinet was mic'd and I was only about 1/2 way up on gain and power.
Happy Hunting, I really like the Quilter amps, overall. A great sound and very good to our lower backs, as well.

I use a Toneblock 200 into an Eminence Double T-12, and it sounds amazing. I use a BOSS parametric EQ for tweaking the EQ. All the rest of my effects are stompboxes. |

Yesterday I got a Quilter MicroBlock 45 to use with my lap steels at home. It's an amazing little guy. Plenty of power, although using the aux. input for tracks, some volume is taken off the steel. Still, lots of volume for at home. I'd take a bigger amp for pedal steel. |

Hey George, I am also wondering how the Tone Block compares to the MB 200. I had an MB 200 and personally didn't like it at all. I've heard a couple of Quilter combo amps that really sound great,,,warmth of a tube amp. I'm wondering if that would be possible with the Tone Blocks? |

Sonny,
The little Block-45 has a great tone into my 15" speaker. I would imagine that the 200 watt big brother with even more eq. and power would sound terrific. |

Just ordered a Pro Block 200 for pedal steel. I traded in a Roland Cube 80GX that I didn't need anymore. The Block should arrive next week. |
