I have been trying to play my Fender Triple 8 for about a week or so. This is a TOUGH instrument! LOL
I am now just starting to sound like I’m not killing cats ... at least my neighbors can hear I’m playing Sleep Walk and Teardrop now...
But I am truly humbled! |

I just started trying to play mine this evening. I'm thinking it might be a bit (few weeks) before even attempting to record this noise. |

Give it one more week and see how much you have improved, Practice those scales forward and backwards 100 times then do it again and again everyday. |

My T8 Stringmaster (medium scale) is humbling too...my lap steel that I've been playing relatively non-stop for several months, I found out it is a rather small 20.5" scale (Morrell). When I jump over to the Stringmaster, I find the tone full and rewarding, great sustain, harmonics leap out, etc...but my playing, on the other hand, having to deal with a rather significant additional 4 inches of scale length, takes a bit of a nose-dive.
I like having the cheap lap steel around for convenient practice around the house, but I may have to consider finding one with a scale that isn't at such extreme odds with my Stringmaster, to help me get used to that. |

I’ve kind of had a breakthrough the last couple of days. I’ve dug in harder on both hands and am muting better. Trying to get the harmonics down. I’ve started with two easier songs, Sleepwalk and Teardrop. |
