It will work, but it won't sound like a dobro. The Aura makes a pickup sound like the guitar is mic'd in a room.

It might make it sound sort of like a dobro, but that's not the concept behind the technology.

A lot of folks are under the impression it is like a modeling device where a setting digitally "imitates" something, but the Aura combines with the instrument played to produce the sound, so no - plugging a lap steel with a magnetic pickup into it will not make an accurate dobro sound come out of the speaker.

Not exactly your question and I don't have any experience with the Aura pedal. I'm using a lap steel into a BoBro pedal. It sounds pretty close. Others like the Bradshaw pedal and the Match-Bro will also work with a G dobro tuned lap steel or open D tuning. It'll do just fine for electric bands with drums.

If fact, I've put my acoustic reso up for sale as I've given up hope of finding any true acoustic groups to play with around here...and I can also use my pedal for Pedabro type sounds with the pedal steel.

You ain't gonna fool any reso connossieur with it, but the band will prolly be happy with it and the rest won't know the difference.

You cannot get the resonance, growl and timbre of a real one, but it'll do for my needs as I'm only using it on a few tunes here and there.
