Joe Wilson doing Chick Corea's Spain

To me, this is the most exciting movement in dobro playing (all steel playing if you want to be honest) today.

Great to have you inspired.

Joe has a bunch of lessons free of songs including "Jazz"

Enjoy Bill

Outlining changes though is going to require some serious practice and study. So enjoy.Looking forward to our future discussions. Very Happy

Yeah I know. I do his version of Mood Indigo. With only 6 strings! Smile and good old G tuning

I thought it was the bass players job to outline changes. Smile

That was epic. I have played Spain at various times, it is such a wonderfully evocative piece of music. These guys have got a great understanding between themselves and they know how to serve the music. A really great job in my opinion!

I just realized that they are brothers. Must be some incredible music going on in that household.

Well due to this thread I just discovered Joe Wilson,,,man, what a talent,,,,and very generous with his instruction material. He made me aware of something I had not realized in 60+ years of music,,,,the 1,2,3,4 scale tones of the I chord are the same as the 4,5,6 b7 scale tones of the V chord,,,the scale walk up from the I to the IV is the same notes as the walk down from the V7 to the I. Used 'em all my life, just never aware of the relationship,,,,what a dummy!!!!

Plus Joe is the only I know around giving 8 string dobro lessons. His work on Mike Aldridges 8 string stuff is great. I sent him some money to keep up the good work.
