I bought a beat-to-death Vegas 400 from local Craigslist. Did a very quick check in the seller's house with a vocal mic and didn't notice anything unusual, but when I brought it home and plugged in my steel, I'm hearing a very even rythmic, pulsing distortion/popping that seems to be only across the mids. I can reproduce on either channel. I've had mid and shift at 12 o'clock. Does seems like lowering it reduces the effect somewhat, but it's still definitely present. I've taken reverb all the way down, so that's definitely not contributing.
Any obvious things to try or check? It's probably obvious from my sloppy description, but I'm clueless when it comes to amps. |
