This may sound like a stupid question but here goes. I'm new again to the forum from back in the late 80's. I'm 64 years old. I'm getting back into playing steel again. I've owned a rebuilt push pull Emmons E9 I got from Billy Cooper (awesome), a new EMCI which I bought first and then traded to Billy Cooper for the push pull. (didn't like the sound of the EMCI) and a Sho Bud Super Pro E9/C6 which was awesome. all back in the late 80's. I am thinking of a Zum or Rittenberry E9. I know they are both great guitars. If you were me, would you favor one over the other if the price were the same? And if so, why?

Hi Paul,
Both are great guitars ...but Zum is not in production anymore. I own two Ritts and have played Zums. I havea 2010 Rit6t D-10 and it is a great sounding guitar. And I have a 2016 Ritt Prestige SD-10 - it sounds fantastic! In fact,I have a Prestige D-10 on order and will sell my "old" D-10 as soon as the new one is almost ready. Gary studied Zums, Franklins & p/p Emmons when he designed the changes for Prestige.

IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY YOU PAY FOR IT.

Jim

there is really no answer to that question, those are both high end, top of the line professional instruments, you can't go wrong with either one...

I agree with Damir. I played a ZUM Hybrid for a number of years and now have a Rittenberry Prestige. You can't make a mistake if those guitars are your choices.

I would buy this Zum in a heartbeat if I had the money:

https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=323988 The anti detuning feature is really amazing.

I like the late model Zums more than the early ones. They all work like a Swiss watch. But Bruce was constantly improving the tone over the years.

There is a significant difference between the Ritt prestige and before prestige too. I like how all the Ritts sound though.
