They've just started again after a long gap. Perhaps Russell means before that.

I didn't mean the new sierra named steels I was asking about the older models the crown , session and others , what they made in the 70 s and 80 s

I'm trying to find an answer on that for you Russell. Having gone through some different owners over the years, I'm guessing the number you're looking for is going to be tough to dial in.

Thanks Ross , The Crown gearless was always my favorite Sierra especially the Uni 12 . Always like the look with the legs outside the body and I hope to find one , one of these days, by the way your new Sierra looks Great. Russ

According to long time Sierra employee Tom Baker, there were approx. 2198 high end pedal steels from 1976-2003. Tom says the early records from '76 are a bit iffy which is why I say its an approx. number.

In that same time there were 303 Artist models produced.

There are no records available prior to Don christens en's purchase of the company in 1976.

That's more than Zum, but a fraction of either MSA or Sho-Bud. I think it's also well short of Emmons.
