We have lost jazz guitar great Mundell Lowe at age 95. Somewhere I have an early 90s episode of Main Street Jazz (from PBS I think) which featured Mundell, Bucky Pizzarelli, and Charlie Byrd jamming out. All were in their 70's at the time, but still cookin'! Great player from a great era.

Mundell Lowe was truly a Jazz Guitar icon. I recall reading that he learned a lot from listening to the great piano player, Art Tatum. He had a wonderful career, having played with some of the greatest Jazz artists of all time. May he RIP.

Mississippi Home of America's Music is the new slogan
that appears on our car tags in Mississippi. Mundell
is one of the reasons for this - he grew up near
Laurel, Mississippi.

I guess Bucky is the only one left of the great jazz guitarists from the old school. All the ones who broke the trail are having a great jam in the sky. Liven up that Heavenly band boys and girls.
