I have a 12 String Universal, 8&5 with locking E's to Eb lever built by Reg Diller in Greencastle Pa, Have there ever been any other pedal steel made by anyone else in Pa or is Reg the only Pa builder of pedal steels?? the one I have now, was built 23 or 24 years ago & still plays, looks & sounds great. I live in Maryland & I am sure there are no pedal steel builders in this state [watch someone jump on this & tell me about so & so down there close to you know where, that builds steels in Md!!

Hello Ernie. Well I guess I'll jump in and tell you about Paul Chaney in Clear Spring, Md. He has built a few steels and they sound pretty good and built well.

Jack, you know, I do remember that fellow, he was at a show years ago up near Pittsburg and had a steel there, I think you had to tune the changes under the guitar, that was back around '83 I think. I had forgotten about him. I wonder if he still builds those guitars?

Ernie, the one I saw was a relatively new guitar and all pull. Charlie McVey's son, I think, is working on Wheeling.

Jack, Ernie,

Charlie McVay is still building a great Pedal Steel Guitar with numerous improvements over the years. Dick Vernon has the last D-10 Charlie intends to build. His recent efforts are toward SD-10s with beautiful wood bodies and L-710 pickups. These guitars have a terrific sound and look very good. I own a Custom Ten that Charlie made on a 3/4 maple body back in the early eighties. Charlie designs and builds all the components for his guitars. He lives near New Castle, PA, not far from the Ohio line. If you would like contact information, let me know.
