Hello Paddy, which scale length do you use for the baritone? My Weiss has 30 inches.

The scale length of the Burgin baritone is usually 27 inches or 600 mm. There can be case issues with longer instruments but some makers do a good line in acoustic bass cases so these can accomodate the longer baritone scale.

Thanks for the posting Andrea. Beautiful. Glad to see the Lazy River is doing well. It's been a while since I shipped that one. You really encompassed the beauty of the 30". They're mesmerizing. I love it when I get one strung up. It's one of the few instruments that really tell you what to play. I can just sit down with one and just play with not a care or tune in mind and it's so fun.
What's your tuning and string gauges on that one.
Paddy, you're exactly right, the cases are always a problem with the 30". I remember making Andrea's 30" inch case. I basically built a small road case with foam inserts cut to fit the Weiss. I remember it wasn't the best looking thing I've ever built, but it worked and fulfilled the function of a case.Maybe it's still working. I may do one 30" every two years or so. So I never get a good process for the cases.
One time I bought a dreadnaught case from Musicians friend and cut the headstock end of the case off and added about 3 inches. Then adde the end back on and covered it back with some matching black vinyl and cloth on the inside. This worked pretty well, looked ok. but the amount of time it took was crazy. But I tried to make it affordable. I hate for things that aren't instrument related to drive up costs.

Hello Mr.Rance, I use the Weiss tuned in A major and the strings gauge is .080,.065,.045,.o32.022,.017.
