Hello all
New member seeking Standel info if anyone can help? I recently acquired a 1960 Artist 30j15t which has tubes in the pre section as well as power. The amp was quite reasonable as there were a few non-original features that were not deal breakers for me. However if possible,it would be nice to restore it as much as practical.
The amp did not have the original back plates or grill cloth. Might anyone have pics of what both should look like?
Thanks ! |

I don't have a picture for ya but I'm sure that Standel grill cloth is hard to come by. Tim Maag apparently knows more about Standels and how to fix them properly than anyone, and he lives near LA.
I'm a bit of a Standel enthusiast myself. I own five, ranging from 50's to late 60's. |

I did send them an email which I hoping they will answer tomorrow. I did not expect to find original grill cloth but thought a picture might help in finding something close. Right now it has Fender silver grill cloth which I assume isn't very close? I have no idea what cloth from this time looked like.
Thanks ! |

Tomm,
Not the best picture of a very early 60's, new at the time, Standel. Showing only the grill cloth.
Best regards, Jay Thompson

I just repaired a Standel not too long ago for a music store. Great sounding amp, really, but the epoxied modules were a pain.
As for the grill cloth, just go to Reverb.com and search the Standels they have. Lots of pics of various models, most with original grill cloths. If your model isn't there, another from its era/year might be. Or just google your model online and there will be some pics. |
