I have a Peavey Bandit Transtube 112 (red-line) amp. I was playing it this morning (lead guitar) at church and it completely died! Volume was set at 3/4 and going through the clean channel.
Couldn't find the fuse!!! I'm wondering if it is even accessible on this amp.
I'm having trouble deciding if it worth repairing. On ebay there're sell for around + - $100.00 working. I doubt I can ship it to Peavey, repair, and return for that amount.
Any suggestions? |

If similar to my N-112 the fuse (a common 3AG type) is mounted in a clip on the main circuit board.
To access the amp chassis itself remove the 4 screws on the top of the cabinet and the 3 small screws holding the chassis under the rear lip of the cabinet. The chassis should slide out to the rear and the fuse should be visible on the top board.
It's a glass fuse so you might well determine if it's blown with a visual inspection.
It could be "just" the fuse or there may be an underlying cause.

I've witnessed fuses fail from shock & vibration. The fuse in my N-112 loosened in the clip. Stuff happens.
Yes, I would certainly agree that there may me an underlying cause also. Proceed with due caution.

| I just got my Session 500 back from Peavey. I was able to drop it off in Meridian, MS and they sent it back UPS after refurb. I first took the power amp and pre out of the cab so it wasn't all that heavy for shipping. They replaced some filters and transistors and lubed the pots & made sure it tested out to new specs. Including the shipping from their end to Colorado it was about $135. Very worth it for me! I plan on doing a split cab with that. One GREAT steel amp. |
