My Legrande 3 RKR drops D# to D. I need it to go to C#. Here's a pic.
E9 is at the top. RKR pushes a rod attached to a bellcrank on the left crossbar. There's a rod with springs and collars that goes from that bellcrank to the aluminum bracket in the middle of the pic.
Can I just tune this puppy down to C#, or do I need to do something else. I'd like to have a 1/2 stop on it for D, but I can live without that for a while.

The D is more important than the C#, in my opinion (for whatever that's worth these days  ). I have them on separate levers, and I use the D about 5 times as often as the C#.
A half stop is fine if you can get used to it, but playing without the D would limit you quite a bit. I don't know of any major players that don't use the 2nd string D change.

Charlie,,
I'm looking at a 1/2 stop on it allready..
I tune my D# down to C#, then tune the 1/2 to D.
That liitle knurled fitting is where you tune the 1/2 stop.
If you don't have enough tention to feel the 1/2 stop, loosen the barrell fitting with an allen wrench, compress spring, and retighten, adjust untill you have the tention you want, and can feel the stop.
If I;ve missed anything, I'm sure some one will speak up.

b0b is right about that D, but I use the C# pull a lot also.
Some times it takes some getting used to on that 1/2 stop, I've got mine set tighter than I really wanted, but if I loosen it up I push on through it, that aint good. LOL..
I some times have trouble tuning the 1/2 stop, it's reall touchy, I usually hold the KL over with my left hand, then reach under the guitar and tweak the knurled nut untill it comes in.

Charles,
There is a row of 10 allen head screws in the base of the changer block. More than likely the screw for the second string needs to be backed out a couple or so turns.

I've got the D# > C# change on the RKR of my push/pull, and I'd hate to lose it. I'm going to tackle the mod this evening.
One good thing about this LeGrande is that it's got the 1st string F# > G# change. The push/pull doesn't have that at all. Unfortunately, the DPO saw fit to put it on on LKV, and have 5 and 10 B > Bb on RKL. This is absolutely the last used guitar I'm going to buy (yeah, right  .

It worked just like you said. I had to back off the hex screw 1/4 turn, but other than that it just dialed right in.

Hey Larry,
Until April 18, 2005 I had never put my mits on a pedal steel guitar. I'd admired a few, but never touched one. Since then it seems like I wake up in a new world every day or two.
