Lots of choices:
Thomas Case Co. in NC been building cases forever.
Hugh Briley in NC builds nice ones.
For lighter fibre board cases Brand X by Steve Hinson in Nashville.
I believe Red Dirt Cases right there somewhere in Texas can build split ones too.
Links should be found somewhere here in posts etc. in a search. |

I highly recommend the fiber cases made by Steve Hinson.
Much lighter and far more protective than hard cases. |

I hope I didn't create a problem between 2 reputable professionals by inquiring both ways about cases. If so I truly apologize if my big mouth started a problem! |

Hey guys, I am truly sorry if I said anything, anywhere, to offend anyone. I was just saying how a little support can't hurt, and yes I have seen damage before caused by broken supports or improper heights of support blocks or cases that were broken or damaged. At least that was what Emmons blamed it on and steps were taken to prevent it. That was 40 or so years ago and the cases never got blamed again. I have OEM customers that use a foam mat instead of blocks for this reason. I never meant to degrade a fiber case, they are a fine product. I can build fiber cases also and did so 25 years or so ago, just don't see how a little support can hurt.

In 12 years of shipping literally thousands of instruments the Thomas cases by far protected the instrument from serious damage. |

Fibre cases put a thick layer of foam around your guitar, hard cases transfer any shocks to the case right to the guitar. It's a no brainer, fiber cases are much more protective than hard cases. The fact that the fiber cases are much lighter is just gravy.
If I was forced to throw my '70 push pull down a flight of stairs, I would put it in one of Steve's cases ( the ones I have were made by Danny Bentley, same difference), it would have a chance of survival, in a hard case it would be destroyed. I've been using the cases I got from Danny for about four years and have beat the crap out of them, they are still just as protective as they were the day I got them. |

That is why I like foam padding inside a hard case. |

No steel guitar or amp(or anything else)has ever been damaged in a Brand X case...
I have, however, had 2 steel guitars seriously damaged in the hard cases they came in. |

I have never said, or heard there had been damage caused by a fiber case, only by improperly constructed or broken hard cases. |

Bob,I remember standing in my shop wondering"what have I done"right after I started building cases(first ones i built were mine,so I could see if I could even do it)when the phone rang and it was you AND Will Van Horn and you both ordered cases! The first two orders!
Will has flown his steel to Austrailia multiple times and now you have flown your little S-10 to France in Brand X cases...I made Will a case for his Twin Reverb head and it's got about a million miles on it,I think...
Love you both and thanks for your continued support.
Steve

No secrets here. How this all started was I sent a pm to Ron after my name was mentioned. What I said was that fiber cases are lighter but they give the guitar no structural support and I have seen guitars damaged from cases with improper or broken support blocks. Those are my exact words, which is what I said a few post back and am not trying to hide or change what I said. I did not say a fiber case would cause his guitar damage, only that a hard case offered more support. Sorry if I was wrong for pointing out the advantages of a hard case over a fiber case, there are good and bad things about both cases.
