Has anyone ever heard of a Fender 600. It has 8 strings and 6 pedal - pedals are not addons - it came from the factory this way but there isn't any info on it. The first one I saw was in the late 60's. Jim Murphy was playing one on a show we were on--help [This message was edited by Joe Adams on 06 June 2005 at 05:33 AM.] |

Joe.. a FENFED 600?? ..
anyway, there IS a Fender 600 on ebay.. it is an 8 string, and I have NO idea what the difference would be from an 8 string 400 model.. maybe the number of pedals??
The only difference I can see is the color scheme.
Hopefully Jody will see this and I'll bet he'll be able to shed some light!! bob |

Hey Joe, I believe that would still be a Fender 400... You could get additional pedals added at the factory but the guitar was still a 400 no matter how many pedals it had... I think Sneaky Pete's old 400 has about 8 pedals on that thing...JH in Va.

I had a Fender 400 with 6 pedals about 1965 when we lived in Southern California. It came with an A6th tuning so that is what I used even with my first MSA 12 string about 1970. For the last 30 years I have used a B6th/E9th universal tuning and that is what is on my Carter. It has 8 pedals and 6 knees. |

The Fender 400 (8-string) came with 4 pedals, standard. You could add up to 6 more, at about $50 each. The later 800 (10-string model) came with 6 pedals standard, and you could add up to 5 more.
The Fender guitar was large, so you could mount up to 12 floor pedals (if you wanted to forego space for a volume pedal). |

It's just a Fender 400 with extra pedals. Like Donny said, it was a $50 option to add more pedals.
I just sold one a few months ago that came from the factory with ten pedals.
The problem you have with more pedals is that you end up having to many cables. They start binding up aganst each other, then you hit one pedal and three more move with it. |

Hey Joe,good to see you on the forum. In the early 60s I was playing a 6 pedal 400 in Columbus right up the road from you. It was my first psg and was a real nice steel for it's day. Mine had the black metal with blond finish and the orginal style straight pedals. I traded it for a 1000. |

The Fender 600 is just a Fender 400 with two extra pedals. I played a Fender 400 for a few years that I ordered direct from the factory and ordered two extra pedals when I ordered it, but it still was a Fender 400. Had to carry my blow torch with me to reconnect the solder on the cables. Other than that was a great little steel.

Saw this one on ebay, too.
It's encouraging to see one still go for what I feel is a fair price. |

That must have taken up quite a bit of space in your pac-a-seat!

Alvin,
I'm looking for two rods and as many cables as I can find.
Do you have anything like that laying around?
Thanks
