My Takamine EAN 16 has a tube preamp inside. If the
tube burns out, I assume this will shut down the
electronics? Where can I secure a replacement tube?
Would the burned out tube also shut down the tuner?

What I can find, on the Takamine site its a 12AU7 tube.
It probably would not affect the tuner but it would affect the output signal.

Try pulling the tube out and see what happens.
See what still works and what doesn't.
Note: Disconnect power to the guitar/circuit before doing this, just to be safe. |

thanks Jack and AJM for trying to help me. I removed the tube and nothing happens. I will see if I can find a
tube in Jackson tomorrow. Hope I can get this thing
working for to replace it will cost about $300.

If you can't get a 12AU7, a 12AT7 will work or even a 12AX7 although the 12AX7 is higher gain. |
