Hi Everyone,
I have some exciting news I want to share with all of my friends here! Soon I will be online, teaching my method for learning music on the steel guitar.... Once the formal announcement is made across the internet, which should happen within a week, I will give everyone more details. For me as a teacher this is the fulfillment of a dream.....Its taken a long time for the software technology to arrive and for my partners and I to bring this to fruition.... Over two years ago I began documenting and archiving the diverse content needed for the school to launch. With total information at all levels and in all directions the student can choose whatever they want to suit their styles while pursuing their musical direction.

Wow!
I did not expect such great responses so soon....I promised my partners that I would not reveal too much....Let me say this...
Rick, Yes I have already dealt with that subject a little and shared a jingle story I experienced with a client from NYC...I will be eventually sharing all of my experiences if there is interest from the students...
I will give a taste of another scenario....Hal was our best reader in Nashville...Like Buddy and others I can read but its as slow as molasses.......I just recorded last year with the London Philharmonic on a new Orbison record....Music is used all the time in these situations and I have gained the wisdom to dance around the embarrassment of not being a great reader...The point for me as the teacher is to provide the student the experience I have gained navigating these sometimes murky waters.

FIRST off, thank you for taking the time to critique my playing, and give me some pointers a few.weeks ago... I have been applying the techniques you shared with me and the helpful tips and hints, and ALREADY my playing has improved....as well as my LISTENING and comprehension of what im hearing...
Ive been looking forward to this announcemnt you told me about...I kind of thought I knew what it was, but now my suspicions are verified!
I'm looking forward to tapping Into the knowledge you have and are graciously choosing to share! God bless you and yours Paul!!!

Oh and Paul, ive done my best not to run my mouth about this announcement, so you know...
Also, im sure everyone can overlook your limitations on the reading....
And Of course youre gonna get an overwhelming response Paul, you are the BEST PSG PICKER TODAY IMHO, and im sure the opinion of others... Im not alone when I say, I try and emulate a lot of the licks and phrasings you've used over the years !!

I find it great news someone of the stature of Mr Franklin has decided to share his knowledge of the Steel Guitar with others. I don't think the lack of sight reading will be a drawback for him, like a lot of others, I can read a piece of music and play it to you a few days later, just not on the day you gave it to me. It is my humble opinion that concentrating on musical theory is the quickest way to drive away a beginner, I know there are others who think the opposite, and there are more than a few on this Forum, who expound these views and my eyes just glaze over when reading their posts, I think it better to get the Student into playing on day one, not after 3 years of learning scales and theory.
In my experience players reading from the sheet as they play are too mechanical, adding no emotion to what is on the page, indeed many can play nothing if its not written down.
I look forward to hearing more about Mr Franklin's approach to this enterprise, I'm sure he has looked at what others are doing and decided where he can fit himself in to passing on his undoubted knowledge, more power to you Sir.
