Hey guys

Assuming you need one for tuning the nylon pedal tuners, should be able to find a 3/16" socket style nut driver with a handle at most hardware stores. Excel used to have a nice little one, but don't find anything now in a search.
Edit: The old brain is slow these days. It was Xcelite like the one in this photo from www.testequipmentdepot.com ...just for future reference.

What Jerry said. I find I prefer the screwdriver-type nut driver to the knurled tuning wrench. _________________ James Collett |

5mm metric will also do in a pinch. little loose, but workable. |

Here's another option. Take a Stubby screwdriver, remove the blade, drill out the opening to allow a tight fit for the socket to be inserted. Small enough to fit in tool pouch but large enough handle to get a really good grip on.

Don't recall the size offhand, but I think I found the exact same screwdriver-style socket driver at Menards as was shipped with my Encore. |

I use a Sears Craftsman tool like this:
http://www.sears.com/craftsman-finger-grip-socket-adapter-3-pk/p-00943401000P
In combination with a 1/4" drive deep well socket that fits my tuning nuts (3/16" on my steels). The drive is very grippy and I like that the rounded chrome tip on the socket makes it easy to slip on to a tuning nut on a closely packed changer finger. |

Harbor Freight should have what is needed. I've seen similar to the linked Sears tools there, at a lot less price. Good enough for a tuning tool. |

I realize this isn't an alternative however, it only took a couple of days to get mine from Michael.

This is an "Extended" 3/16th socket with a wrap of anti-skid tape (like for wooden steps), from local Ace Hardware.
(not sure why the pic is ro'tater'd)

Mike Yahl's are high quality, relatively inexpensive and quite frankly, works of art. Support a steel player who personally custom manufactures tools, parts and pieces just for our community rather than a multi-national who imports from China. And he is a good guy. _________________ John Brabant

I picked up a combo tuner from Michael last year in Phoenix. It has an Allen head on one side and a socket for nylon tuners on the other. His stuff is high quality. |

I used one of those T-wrenches on a Keyless Williams last weekend. They work great.
But yes as the original post asks, a quick trip to any hardware store ouht to get you a functional endplate-tuner in a pinch. |

You know Michael, I'm not sure why I never thought of looking at your website for tuning wrenches, considering I've probably funded the majority of a month's mortgage buying from you.
I seem to have lost my tuning wrench at some point, so I picked up a 3/16" nut driver insert at a pawn shop for free ("just take it and buy something next time"), drilled a 1/4" diameter hole in a length of ~1/2" dowel and pressed it in. It works well, it's not too long, and the wood offers a bit of natural grip. I'll try to remember to take a picture when I get home today. _________________ If something I wrote can be interpreted two ways, and one of the ways makes you sad or angry, I meant the other one.
