Not on the link posted. I'll guess it's their road player whom ever that might be? I've never heard the LP. So I have no idea about it.

I posted the same question on the Forum early this summer and to my untrained ears it sounds like Steve Hinson to me. Very little info on credits for the recording, but it's a great bunch of songs.

this looks like a real country band to me, I bet they don't use any session guys, and most then likely whoever plays steel in the band is on the recording... but I could be wrong of course

The several times I've seen Midland around here, there wasn't a steel player onstage or in the band. It looks like they're being marketed as a trio with sidemen.

| Cool to see these guys getting some attention. Before I left Austin last year, I tuned a piano for their lead player, Jess (the one playing the black Tele in the video) and chatted with him a bit. He mentioned that they'd been doing sessions in Nashville with Paul Franklin and Dan Dugmore. Herb, at the time he said Kim Deschamps was sitting in on a few local gigs. |

The song in the link, and "Drinkin' Problem" could very well be Dan.

My OCD is flaring up real bad. The awesome steel solo in Midland's "Drinkin' Problem" caught my attention the very first time I heard it and I spent considerable time trying to narrow down the possibilities of whose style it most "felt" like. But the musical fingerprint just wasn't clear enough to make a solid call. Naturally I came to the Steel Guitar Forum for answers or even clues. Nothing but speculation. Good speculation, but nothing firm. So I bought the single online. No credits provided. Bought it from another source. No credits again! So I did what any irrational music-obsessed person would do. I Facebook stalked Wystrach's mom and even sent a crazy note to the band. Lo and behold, I received a reply! Midland says although they enjoy working with Dan Dugmore, the credit on this song goes to Mr. Paul Franklin. Man don't he play purty!

Someone commented that this could be a band from the '70s. I agree. There was a lot of stuff in this vein back then. I don't find the singer's voice exceptional (pitchy in places) but overall this is very nostalgically enjoyable.
