Ken Fox:
Thanks for your response. I don't have an old chassis. 1-I had a beat coming through the speaker. That was repaired. 2-A bad noise was coming from the volume control. I took it to the same place, they said it they could not fix it. I took it to another place, they fixed the noise but instead of setting it on 3, I have to set it on 7.Also the treble, mid-range, and bass do not work. There is no one in Lynchburg, Va. that can fix this amp. Help The 614-e was made 4-16-96 serial#1595 Thanks

Happy to report that I got Jerry's amp fixed/ I am still retired but when I see something like this I can't help but want to be of assistance.
When he mentioned the tone controls did not work and the amp had low output I recalled seeing this problem before. The tone controls circuit has an amplification stage after the controls that has a JFET and a regular transistor. The tech who worked on it put in the wrong JFET and shut down the tone circuit.
George Moore, who drew the schematics originally helped me some years ago with an amp that had this same issue. A lesson I am glad I remembered
Jerry's amp sounds awesome again and I am so glad he did not throw it in the dumpster!! |

He had a late 90's single chassis Webb. Absolutely mint condition! Cleanest on I had seen in years. He was ready to throw it away and get a new chassis (which of course does not exist anymore). I am just glad to have talked with him and found out that it had been worked on and deemed un-repairable, after about $200.00 he said he had spent on it. Seems like a lot for one wrong transistor and a small 10uf cap!
At any rate we got her going and I made a new friend along the way. |

Hello Steve:
I took the amp to two places in Lynchburg,Va. I consider both of them to be my friends. I have a few comments, but I had rather not say. Thanks for your response.I really appreceiate what Ken Fox did for my amp. These people in Lynchburg,Va.tried, but they are not familiar with the Webb amp. How ever they tried.
Thanks

I just want all of you to know I was not trying to put anyone down here! Fixing any amp without a schematic or prior experience is rough!! I accumulated a lot of info ion the Webb amps after servicing so many over the years. I am glad to share schematics or whatever I can when someone needs a tech to fix there amp. It is the least I can do! |

Ken, I have Webb and both of the red lights on the front panel are out, I need to replace them but not sure where I can get them, or what kind of bulbs those are... you got any idea? Thanks _________________ www.steelguitarsonline.com |

The older amps used a replaceable bulb:
Mouser 606-CM327
Mouser 606-CM387
either will work
The newer amps used a Neon bulb assembly, I do not have a part number.
