I wonder if any computer programming boffins reside here.

I was wondering if a computer could come up with an optimum design for a co-pedant. Meaning you want it to come up with "x" number of chords for example majors, minors and 7ths in every key. Tell the cpu you have 4 pedals and 4 KL's and let it go......with the restraint being to minimise grips.

If you can play the whole chromatic scale, you can probably play any chord, unless you want several notes too close together. The limitations would be caused by your choice of temperament. For example if you use E# in a D minor chord, a band leader might not like it. On the other hand many band leaders wouldn't notice.
