If you are using an E tuning, make the pedals the A and B
pedals, changing the E or 1 chord to an A or 4 chord.
I would lower the Es with one lever, and raise them with
the other. This is assuming your E tuning is like the bottom 8 strings on a 10 string guitar. |

I'd use the most essential changes from my D6th:
Tab: |
K1 P1 P2 K2
F# G
D D# C#
B
A G#
F# F
D D#
B
G E

Yes, basic E9 tuning except for the top two strings. This set up lets you play I, iii minor, IV, V7, and vi minor
chords, and gives up the I chord inversion 3 frets up. You can also find lots of scales in this set up. |

b0b, I think you undersell your D6 tuning by not referring to it as a "universal"*. I can see the equivalents of pedals A, B, C, 5, 6, 7 & 8, and E raises and lowers (ok, lower).
Buddy Emmons might well have approved, as he regarded the 3rd string on the C6 as matching the 4th on the E9, not the 5th as in the B6/E9 setup. And you have displaced the original E9 and C6 tunings by only a tone, which is non-drastic. It can clearly do a lot of what a D10 does at a fraction of the weight - very elegant.
*or maybe you do but I wasn't paying attention _________________ Make sleeping dogs tell the truth!

Thanks, Ian. I like it a lot, but it misses the low string pentatonics of the E9th. Without that, it's hard to call it "universal". It does everything I need on the bandstand, though. Click "copedents" in my signature to check out the new 10-string version. We can start a new topic if you want to talk about that. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Hey Ian,,,that's a very accurate observation. Seems like it is approaching uni from a 6th side instead of a 9th side. |
