On my '73 pro-I, there's about a 5mm difference between the racks at the pedal end, and the knee racks closest to the changer. The changer also looks off to the same amount. I've seen that being the case on other buds, but I don't know if that's how it's supposed to be. See pics.
I'm installing new knees, but want to know if this is common before I mount them.
I can go three ways.
1. Realigning the pedals to be square with the changer.
2. Realigning the changer to be square with the rest
3. Simply keep everything slightly tilted, which works fine.
Thankful for any advice!

On second thought, the actual changer fingers seems aligned, but the changer return springs are misaligned. Top side everything looks normal.
Which leaves options 1 and 3 I guess.

Don't do anything; that is normal. As long as the rods move through the changer fingers and racks without any big drag(without barrels on them); you are good to go(then put and tighten barrels back on).
I know this because I've worked on/refurbished/restored over 100 Sho-Buds.....and no two sho-buds have ever been lined the same; let along, measurements the same.

Excellent, thanks Ricky! Saves me the hassle of having to alter the pedal stops as well.
I'll attach the knee racks accordingly then. _________________ 73 Sho-bud Pro-I |
