Ive got a S10 , black fretboard and pickup. caste levers. undercarraige painted black. There is no solid stamped serial # but some confusing numbers scratched on the bottom end of the changer endplate:269--26--5911.Last four digits are hard to be shure as its pretty sloppy. I hate it when that happens. Thanks.

That 10-digit # is probably a Social Security Number...fits the pattern anyway--###-##-####. The first three #s define the region--lower in the east, 5##- by the time you get to California. (As a native Okie, mine is 44X-XX-XXXX. Without looking up a SS# website, I'd guess this owner was born in the South or east end of the Midwest.)

I'd suggest checking pot codes but one of mine is invisible and the other contradicts all other evidence (replaced?) by about three (or thirteen?) years.

If it's any help, I have one of the black-painted underside D-10s. It's #0131 authoritatively die-stamped into the underside of the endplate), attributed by the resident ZB/SGF experts as 1969 Bakersfield.
