Sad news. Kayton was a wonderful player and a great showman. I saw him 2 or 3 years ago when I went to the Long Hollow club outside of Nashville with Mike and Joanie Johnson. Previous to that, he came to my home town of Southampton, UK, about 45 years with Hank Snow. RIP big man. _________________ Show Pro D10 - amber (8+6), MSA D10 Legend XL Signature - redburst (9+6), Sho-Bud Pro 111 Custom (8+6), Emmons black Push-Pull D10 (8+5), Zum D10 (8x8), Hudson pedal resonator. I am truly saddened in learning of Kayton's passing! Not being skilled with words, I can only agree with the words of those who previously posted their condolences.
What a tremendous loss to us all in the steel guitar community. |

Rest in peace Kayton. I truly enjoyed your steel playing over the years.
I met Kayton in Dresser,Wisconsin in 1969 where he was playing a concert with Hank Snow.
Fiddler, Chubby Wise was responsible for getting Kayton the job With Hank.

I have Kayton with Hank on video from the Opry a few years back doing Among My Souvenirs. It's one of the most soulful steel guitar solos and one of my all time favorites. I listen to it often.
I'm sorry to hear he has passed, but the music world was made a better place by his presence. |
