Attention all POD users. I have a friend who has a pod unit and he wants to know if it can be used for bass guitar as well as steel and lead. Are there different models? If so what are they.

Thanks for your help
James

There is POD made specificlly for bass. They are black as opposed to red, I use one all the time.

I wouldn't want to use a guitar POD for bass.

(This is in the wrong section)

I have used a "regular" POD XT for bass, with the Bassman amp, and believe it or not - with the Pizeoacoustic model, with ok results.

I finally got a Bass POD XT for my studio, and like it a lot. For someone who only plays bass some - like me, it opened my mind to various other tones that real bass players use.

So - you won't hurt it if you play bass through a red pod, and get an acceptable sound. I guess it just depends what your goal is for it.

Good luck,

David, I'm suprised you got an acceptable sound with the guitar POD. I've never tried it, but hey...

I forgot to mention that I use the BassPOD 2.x Pro (rack mount) to an Alesis Compressor through a power amp into a David Eden 4x10 cab. I don't use much FX for bass and I found the compressor on the POD 2.x lacking so I stuck one in the chain. The amp models sound killer. I usually wind up going with the Ampeg model. I like SWR tone, but it doesn't have enough attack for the way I play.

I'm sure they've cleaned up the FX in the PODxt version (if it's anything like the improvement in the guitar model). I've played a lot of bass in the last 2 years since the demand for wanna-be steelers is very low at this moment in time.
