Charlies wife Darlene called me and said I could share this with the forum. Charlie suffered a MAJOR stroke on Tuesday and is not doing well at all. He is in rehab now. I will post more info as Darlene provides it to me. Keep Charlie and Darlene in your prayers. As most of you know, Darlene had recent heart surgery as well but she is doing well. _________________ Chad Jones

Spoke with Darlene yesterday. Charlie has had minimal improvement. They are moving him to a new rehab location in Springdale, AR tomorrow. Darlene indicated that this will be a very slow and lengthy process of rehab. Continue to keep Charlie and Darlene in your prayers! _________________ Chad Jones

I'll pray for Charlie's full recovery; I'm doing just that from my Feb. 1 stroke (all going great, by the way, even playing well again, thank God). _________________ E9 INSTRUCTION

They have moved Charlie into hospice. Have only given him hours or a few days. He hadn't ate for 6 days and kidneys shutting down. Please pray for him and the family. _________________ Chad Jones

I'm so sorry to hear of Charlie's passing. I first remember him when we both worked for Jones Truck Lines in Springdale in the late 50s and early 60s. I had no idea he played steel guitar, until many years later. I moved away and came back to S'dale to visit my parents occasionally. When my mother could no longer go out for entertainment, I arranged for jam sessions, so entertainment could come to her. One of the other players also knew Charlie, but he knew also that he played steel guitar. Charlie attended some of those jams and I went to a similar jam in his home in BelleVista. I regret that the distance between Arkansas and Texas prevented me from getting to know Charlie as a musician, rather than as a great co-worker and good friend of my dad, who had also worked for JTL. |

I played a lot of music with Charles at church back in the 70's and 80's. He was the one who inspired me to try playing pedal steel. He was very talented and had a great sense of humor. |
