I've never set down to an Emmons Push Pull and I'm wondering how you would describe the "feel" of it? I know the tone is awesome
Also are they that difficult to maintain?

| I dont know how to discribe a "feel", other than to say my '72 P/P has a very good or gratifying "feel" WHEN everything is adjusted and set up right. Periodical maintainance is a must. I enjoy tinkering with my old P/P, cuz this thing CAN be dialed right in with most if not all nuisances eliminated. |

To me they are not any harder to maintain than an all pull. Mine was adjusted three years ago and still works fine. There are enough pp techs on here that can do that for you. Mike Cass, Bobby Bowman, Brian Adams, Bobbe Seymour, are four of them. I was once told that set up right they are unbelievable. Set up wrong I am told they can be a nightmare. The Wilderness Guide and Dr. Seymour's video are both a big help when the tech is miles away.

I'm sure someone will mention the longer pedal throw, and the stiffness. Some people like that, some don't.
As far as "feel" goes, I think it goes hand in hand with tone. If I play another steel, I can usually fiddle with it until I get a decent tone... but when I sit down at my p/p the Tone and Feeling thing are inseperable. You can feel it coming right through the floorboards, through the seat until it feels like your whole body is enveloped by some bear hug. Your body, the steel, the chair, and anything with 10 feet of your setup on stage is alive with the vibe. It's a living, breathing thing under your fingers.
Some may disagree. And that's OK.

| I have been through about 7 or 8 guitars,,,in my 2 and 1/2 years,,my sd10 push pull just fits me like a glove,,,pedals feel good not too stiff not too easy,,it's the only guitar i've had that sound good through a nashville 400,,,but sounds great through my session 400 or LTD,,i also had pain in my bar hand,,and have found that the cause was the guitar was too high,,,i also bought a steeler's choice seat,,it's just like sitting in a recliner and playing,,,, [This message was edited by Willie Crisel on 09 May 2005 at 03:08 PM.] |

I have two '75 P/P's, one was set up by Bobby Bowman, the other I totally restored myself. They both play really well, although a little different than my newer guitars. But then my newer Fessenden and Williams feel different too. I can easily switch from one the newer guitars to the P/P's and play just as badly, heh heh. I love the sound of them though, they definitely have their own sound.

One guitar in particular that I'm looking at is a PP Emmons SD10 thats listed on the for sale forum. Got pix and it looks great but it has brass changer fingers. Brass being soft I'm wondering if it might be a string breaker. Anybody have any experience with brass fingers on a PP Emmons? Thanks guys
