Gary,
Based on what Bobby Boggs said below I'm guessing 1990 (not 1986 as I said previously).
Here is are photos of a guitar that once belonged to my friend, John Carter. He owned two Emmons guitars. The other one was purchased in 1986 and has serial number 442L.

We all know Emmons serial#'s can sometimes be all over the place. Lynn has been a good friend and better fellow you'll never meet. That said. Myself and several friends ordered new Legrandes in 1990. All were in the 600's. Mine, #686 was delivered in late Oct 1990. But was held up a few months because Ron wanted to use the new 14 hole bell-cranks due to my somewhat complicated set-up. As I remember mine was the 2nd LeGrande to have 14 hole machined bell-cranks. Hal Rugg having the first.
I'm not saying Lynn's wrong. Only adding what little I know to the topic.

Bobby,
My friend, John (now deceased) had two Emmons guitars and I now realize I was confused earlier about which one was which. I think you are correct in your assumption of dating Gary's guitar around 1990, my friend. _________________ Best regards,

I have LeGrande D-10, S/N 596L
Came as 9 + 5. Currently 8 + 8.
Black with silver pedals (same as Lynn's photo above)with 4 hole bell-cranks
I have the original Emmons paperwork, but no date.
Any idea(s) as to year produced?
Thanks. |

GARY,
Back in April 2007,I contacted the Emmons Guitar Co. concerning the age of my Emmons Lashley LeGrande ser.#539L.
The answer that I have in a letter from Rebecca Lashley, is the guitar was built 5/24/1988. 8p&8k single coil pu's,11 compensaters,Schaller keys, finish DGRAY.It has 4 hole bell cranks.
This info I believe coincides with the dates quoted by Lynn Stafford. Hope this helps you zero in on your guitar H. P. |
