Has anyone ever used one of these cabs? I'm kind of interested in 2 of these with a 12" in them for my rack unit but I was wondering if anyone else had tried one, how do they sound with steel?
This is the single 12" model. _________________ "Hotrod"

Those, probably are closed back? I don't like the sound of closed back cabinets I like the design but wouldn't consider for the above reason. _________________ Old Emmons D-10's & Wrap Resound 65, Standel amps!

George I'm not sure, I actually believe they are open, but I can't find out if they are or not. Maybe someone that has the cabs will chime in and tell us more about them. _________________ "Hotrod"

If you like that design, Peavey makes some real nice monitor cabinets. ![Very Happy](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) |

I've been curious about these cabinets as well, but I haven't tried them. I'm pretty sure you can order them with open back. You can also check out Coyote Cabs Alpha Pup. They sell them on-line. I think they are a bit cheaper in price. The build quality appears to be similar.
What has held me back from both of these cabinets is that they are made with plywood. I've found I really prefer the sound of solid pine cabinets, plus pine is lighter.
In my experience, cabinets do make a difference in tone. _________________ It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing. |

Can't go wrong with Rick Johnson's solid pine cabs. Light-weight, sound great and he can make you anything you want. Great product and customer service. He's made 3 for me, I love em' |

I think both closed & open back have their advantages. If you're using two cabs why not try it with one of each? I did that with a pair of homemade cabs & it sounded great. Only problem with them is I didn't consider weight and made them out of a dense maple 3/4"ply. They were both closed and properly ported but then I ended up cutting the back of one in half and it did open it up quite a bit. |
