Saw a Mooney pedal steel four pedals/five levers for sale for $1800. Anyone give me any info on this brand? Any help is appreciated. I'm new to the steel world so need advice. Thank you! |

Joseph, I have a Mooney D-10 and have been very pleased with mine. I am selling off most of my keyed steels, including my Mooney for shorter keyless model steels due to a right leg problem.

I would say buy that 4 pedals, 5 lever Mooney if there are no other problems with it..
Do you have a friend who plays pedal steel that could also check out the Mooney if it is in your area?

I've got a Mooney D-12 8+5 and it's a fine steel. Built by Tom Mooney in Memphis if I recall correctly. I bought mine used for $1900 and I think that was a steal. Now I've got a Sierra S-12 and a Mullen S-12 so I don't really gig out with the Mooney anymore but it definitely did the trick, although I don't miss hauling the D12 around. |
