Rich Man, Poor Man is one of my all-time favorite Joaquin solos; just gorgeous melodic improvisation played with such style, tone and technique. It would be an outstanding melodic statement played on any instrument. 15 years ago, the late John McGann and I did a book of JM solos. Mike Neer now sells that book. Elderly instruments may also have copies. Here's John's great transcription of Rich Man, Poor Man.

It's the first tune here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BPUlFUvqMg

Thanks for posting, Andy. Murphey was a great steel player.
I also have the book, and recommend it.

You're welcome. John did a great job on the transcriptions. Joaquin's touch, tone and feeling of melodic and rhythmic freedom are still so inspiring yet out of touch for most of us mere mortals. When you see the positions he used frequently, however, you start to understand the mechanics of how he did what he did. The Hawaiian players he met a Ball's studio in LA, Benny Goodman, Django and George Shearing were the raw ingredients but chef Joaquin's dish was unique.

RIP John McGann a great musician and greater person. https://vimeo.com/56814233
