Don't know why they ever chose to put shelf paper over that wood. _________________ GFI SM10 3/4, 1937 Gibson EH-150, 2 - Rondo SX Lap Steels and a Guyatone 6 String C6. Peavey 400 and a Roland 40 Amps. Behringer Reverb Pedal. |

Those were the 2nd generation Mavericks, without the Gumby peghead and raised neck. I don't know if SB used the Fender Student model, that they built, for their own Maverick or the other way around. But the 1st generation Mavericks are a better quality guitar both in looks and sound than are the shelf-paper models, IMHO.
I use a 1st Gen. Maverick for a 10-string non-pedal guitar in C6. Excellent for that purpose, although it's a perfectly acceptable pedal steel for basic country music. You just have to know how to use your slant bar techniques. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.
Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? |

I could have bought one a couple of years ago from a guy within driving distance of me here in Mississippi. He was located somewhere in North Alabama I think...wish I had bought it. I've seen a few of the shelf paper ones with the paper stripped off and finished...looked like the same nice wood underneath. _________________ GFI SM10 3/4, 1937 Gibson EH-150, 2 - Rondo SX Lap Steels and a Guyatone 6 String C6. Just curious Mickey, would it be possible to re-configure that lever to do something a little more useful by modern day standards? _________________ GFI SM10 3/4, 1937 Gibson EH-150, 2 - Rondo SX Lap Steels and a Guyatone 6 String C6. Peavey 400 and a Roland 40 Amps. Behringer Reverb Pedal. |

My first steel. In 1972, I traded Don Weir's Music City a 1964 Gibson Firebird 3 Straight up for it. I got hosed on the trade but that little steel paid me back within the first six months I owned it. _________________ I need an Emmons! |
