Just to ask if anyone has come across changer fingers that don't have an axel,I have just started to do a overhaul of my blue steel,and there is no axel in the changer,the changer fingers on this steel have a V cut into the finger that pivots on a plate,so each finger is independent and there is no axel to flex.I noticed when I played the steel that there was absolutely
no cabinet drop on any pull,IMHO this is a really good system.Will put a pic up later. |

A pic of the top of the changer showing the finger pivot plate.
Just to add the headstock and the neck have been machined out of one piece of ally,never seen that before. |

When I built a steel about 1967, I considered something similar to that, As the actual pivot is just a few degrees. The finger is actually a lever, Not a wheel. But ended up using a 1/2 Inch Stainless shaft. By having a plate that can be bolted solid across the guitar, There would mean 0 (zero) shaft flex.
Is each finger trapped some way so when a string breaks the finger won't fall out and be hanging by the rods underneath???? |

Hi Bobby,the fingers can't fall out even if a string breakers because the fingers are held against the return plate by the tension springs. |

Just too add ,I have never seen another steel that has the headstock and neck machined from one piece of ally. |
