The A pedal on my Emmons bottoms out lower than the B pedal does. I think it would be more comfortable and easier to operate if they were about the same, or maybe the A was just a tad higher than B. Can I just shorten the A pedal rod and bring that puppy up, or am I going to screw up something else?

On an Emmons, which is pedal 1 and rod 1 etc? The fartherest pedal to the right (closest to the changer) seems to have a 1 on the bottom. Is that right? I thought Sho-Bud was the other way around.

I promise to limit myself to one dumb question post per day.

They must have invented foot pedals before knee levers. That's a good thing. I don't think a "Lever steel guitar" would fly.

Charles,,

I keep my [A] pedal adjusted a tad higher for comfort reasons, You can adjust it on the end that connects to the pedal..

[A] pedal is the one that raises strings 5&10,
It may be on left, or the right side, depending on what set up is on your guitar.

Pedal one is the furthest from the changer. The "standard" pedal rod setup is to have the rod numbers match the pedals. That said, if you reconnect them correctly, you may have to adjust the length of all of them. Then again, that may fix your pedal height problem.

I'm looking to adjust my A pedal on my Emmons too but to lower it a bit instead.

Do you only have to adjust the pedal at the bottom or do you have to compensate with the pedal stops etc?

Just adjust the pedal rod at the pedal

OK. I had the rods completely a** backwards. Once I turned them around everything was just right.

I'm wondering why some of the pedals have a great deal of play, and some have none. I need to get more experience with this mechanism, and to chat with some of the locals and check out their setups. Then I'll be in a better position to judge what it is that I'm trying to accomplish.

Thanks to everyone for the advice.

Onward!
Charlie
