Topic: Buddy and JayDee or Mr.Emmons alone? |

On Phil Everly's record "Star Spangled Banner" is a song called Divorce. Buddy is playing great as usual and later in the song there appears a second steel in the right channel.
Both players are credited for the album, but not directly for this song. Could it be that both play on that song?

All it takes is a pair of headphones and three minutes of your time. Buddy, btw is in the left channel.

First off, don't be discouraged when you don't get responses right away. It has nothing to do with your posts.
The 2nd "steel" you refer to actually sounds like a 6 string guitar and they are bending strings. I don't hear a steel and IMHO, that 2nd part is neither Buddy nor JayDee.

No Bill, I knew it was a six-string, throwing in some phrases. There are two steels as I said in both channels of the stereo mix, you just have to listen closeley 
And thanks for referring to my attitude, but I suspect there's some truth to it.

One of the fast licks is almost identical in both channels, and the slow closing lick is is a high harmony that matches the phrasing.
I think they are both Emmons.

There's another track on the record with steel and to me it's Buddy playing chimes all the way through the song. Maybe that was Mr.Maness.

| Its definately Buddy. This type of duplication happened when they tracked the song...Notice it is not throughout the song....It was not commonplace to go direct or to baffle off amps for complete isolation for overdubbing or replacing parts like in modern times, therefor leakage into open drum, piano or acoustic microphones happen....Buddy most likely was not happy with sections and with his clout he convinced them to give him a shot at fixing those spots...The loud steel is the replacement part and the background is the remainder of the original part leaked onto other instrument tracks. |

| I agree with Mr. Franklin (doesn't that make me look smart!). Similarly, on some of the YouTube's of isolated vocals you can hear a bit of the track leaking from the singers' headphones. |

The other track with steel is "Our Song" at around 19:18. The harmonics are as bOb said, perfect. Reminds me of his playing on Judy Collins' "I pity The Poor Immigrant". Thanks Paul for chiming in, and Peter, may you ask JayDee why his name is on the credits at all.
And yes Frank, it's quite a surprise for me to get the facts right
