No matter how long us old timers have been playing steel.... We all still have our heros among steel players. I'll be 87 in July and been playing steel since I was 15 years old. In my hero list is of pedal steel players would be @1 Buddy Emmons. #2 Curley Chalker, #3Dave Hartley, #4 John Hughey. Of course there are many other top notch Pedal Players I listen to.
I gave up playing pedal about 12 years ago and went to the lap.... But after listing to Dave Hartley's contribution on You Tubes he inspired me to go back to the pedal steel. (thank you Dave). Sooooo I purchased me a Justice S10 and started all over again on pedal,
To date I only play my reso and laps on shows But... one of these days I hope to put the pedal steel on the stage. Thanks for listening... Lee Gillespie

Great story Lee,

Thanks for sharing. It is a neat experience to return to an instrument after putting it down for several years.

Hi Lee,
You got 18 years on me so it's an inspiration.
I am also thrilled to hear Dave Hartley.
Most nights I put his youtube videos on to play all night while I'm sleeping.
Makes for good dreams.
Working on his version of "From This Moment" and have about a 3rd of it worked out.
Good luck with your new steel.
I'd love to get a Justice Pro Lite too.
All the best,
Andy

Thanks you all for the comeback. After not playing pedals for 12 or more years... I decided to go with the Emmoms system. CRAZY////??? NAAA....my reason is... all the years of playing in bar's etc.. when ever I walked into a place and they had a steel on stage.. They would invite me to set in...First question...
What is the set up???... Emmons.... NOPE, I play the Day system...so thats why I thought this would be a good time to switch. Biggest problem...... Muscle memory wants to play the Day system. anyhow thats my story and I'm gonna stick with it.. Ha... Have a great pickin day... Lee
