Reece,
Down in Australia we don't see too many PSG's floating around outside captivity and I was wondering if you had any observations about the steel model in this link:

Prices down here are well out of kilter with what I see mentioned on the Forum for US transactions but anything you can add to the description or pedigree of this model would help me in considering such a purchase.

Hello,
I'm not Reece, but I'll throw in my humble opinion. The supersustain models, with the aluminum pockets around the pickups are the cream of the crop. This is a beautiful guitar with all four knee levers and it looks to be in great condition. In the USA it would sell for $1500 to $2000.
You could not go wrong with this guitar unless you are looking for a light weight steel. I have a single 10 very similar to the one pictured here, and it is a great horn! Go for it! Cheers, Larry J. |

I'm not Reece eigther, but I've owned 2 MSAs'. Very roadworthy guitar. Great sound! But Heavy!! Wish I still had my MSA D-10 Classic.

Brett....thats a beautiful guitar. If I had the serial number I might be able to trace it's history for you.
The sale price is in excess compared to U.S. prices, but possibly compatible with the prices there.
I have always believed that the true cost of anything, is the difference between what one pays for something and what they can sell it for.
For instance, if you purchased that guitar and played it for three years and sold it for $1000.00 less than you paid, it would have only cost you about $27.00 a month, which I consider to be a huge bargain for the amount of joy and pleasure you would get from owning it. (and you might get all your money back)

Tremendous guitars.
I play a red Lacquer classic D10 that is quite similar that model and I love it...

Thanks to Reece and all for replies (including those off-forum), us Aussie steelers have a limited range of options down here in paradise and the retailer that I linked to is one of the few (if not the only) that makes the effort to source decent steels from the US to service and then on-sell, so if I can support him I will.
I am still kicking myself for not snaffling one of Bobbe's marvellous stock when I was at his shop last year during CAAS but at least I came away with the equivalent weight in instructional material (much if it "thrown in" for good measure).

Thank you Brett, You are a nice person and I'm sure that if you aren't a great player by now, you will be soon!
I'll do what ever I can for you as I'm sure many players in the states will. Also Maurice is a great teacher. Many great players have studied under him in the early days of their careers, and some bad ones like me!

That is a good looking guitar and there are plenty of MSA fans about.I know first hand about prices on pedal steels in OZ it's just something we have to deal with.I do know that Noel Anstead had a S12 Emmons going for $4000 or so , so that makes the MSA twin seem not too bad.Personally , I would look into importing one youreself for about the same money and maybe less you can get just about exactley what you want.There are many for sale right here and if you don't know the seller just ask and someone should be able to tell you that he can be trusted.Of course there are the retail outlets such as Bobbe etc.who also give great deals ,just because you didn't buy one while you where there doesn't mean you can't now.I got a great deal from Skip Mertz here on the forum and it was a very smooth transaction.If I can help drop me a line.

I have an excellent condition MSA D-10, 8-4 for sale for about $1200.00, but it may cost a small fortune to get it to your house, I can't say about your import duties.

I would think another $1000. would get Bobbe's MSA to your door.That is just a rough guess but I can't see it being much more.
