They are in the 18,500 to 19,500 range...but remember; the size and kind of magnets and type of wire wounded has EVERYTHING to do with the total sound of the output...not just the Ohms. So if you are getting another maker to try and copy the original pickup sound.....watch-out...ha.

I have the Jackson brothers re-wind mine when I need them. After all they did them the first time. |

Hey Guy's
This is what SHO~BUD wound the 6166 pickups. From before the early 80's until we stopped building!
The counter on the winding machine only counts every 4th turn and the C6 counter was set at 4,600 turns which would be 18,400 turns of #43 wire.(22,000K OHMS)
The E9th pickup counter was set at 4,350 turns which would be 17,400 turns of #43 wire. (20,000K OHMS)
These pickups were all made with 3/16" magnets.
This may be a secret so don't tell anyone!

Sorry!
Even old men can be wrong sometimes.
I said the wire on a Sho~Bud pickup was #43. It is not it is #42.

Yes! Gene is the best! He knows everything Sho~Bud and it's history. Gene's knowledge of Sho~Bud and pedal steel guitar in general is deep, experienced and to be respected.😊Hats off to Mr. Gene! |
