Welcome to the Weissenborn!............
I am looking forward to your adventure and progress.
I have been playing for a bit over a year or so and also have a Weiss copy.
It's a wonderful instrument.
At the moment I am working on "Killing the Blues" and pulling my hair out at the same time.
Please keep putting up videos showing your progress.
It's also nice to see someone my age deciding to give it a try. For me it has been a lot of fun.
I have no one where I live to play with or even listen to so this will be
interesting for me as a comparison and to learn how others work it all out.
Nice to have you here...........

Welcome to the Forum Richard, I'm sure you will enjoy your time here and I hope you progress as fast as you would wish. I don't have a Weissenborn myself I just use the Acoustic Guitars I have right now, maybe some day.
And to Larry who came here first, here is my version of your song "Killing the Blues" I recorded 5 years ago on my Hofner Acoustic, and I'm in the same age group too, we can encourage each other.

| Thank you for the kind words everyone.For those interested, Daniel Brauchli just sent me a link for a video that was aired about him on his local channel. He truly is a luthier ahead of his time. There are other luthiers in Australia using carbon fibers in the construction of their instruments also. I don't have a whole lot of knowledge when it comes to guitars but I do notice a difference in sound of the one I have and other guitars I have held in the past. Very gentle touches of a string are noticed, I'm learning I have to be careful how I raise and lower the steel to limit un wanted sounds. https://open.abc.net.au/explore/183928 |

That is nice. I like it a lot.
I bet I have watched your YouTube videos 8 billion times.
I absolutely love your "Lang Road Home". It's a beautiful song.
I have been using this video....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozhyMV1OFzI to help me get through
Killing the blues, by Kawamura Seiji plus listening to Ed Gerhard's version.
Seiji's video has a great close up view of the strings, bar and picking hand and his and Gerhard's versions are quite similar.
To me it is one of the most beautiful songs when played on the Weiss.

Thanks for putting up that video.
It was very interesting and holy crap are his instruments beautiful.
I checked out his website and was appropriately amazed although it is obvious I could not afford one.
I am afraid my Weiss is in the beginning stages of separating at the joint between the soundboard and the player's side slightly above the soundhole.
It wasn't really a great instrument but I love it. Sadly I think it will cost more to fix than the original price.
So if you hear the sound of a guitar exploding in my area you will know what it is........

Bob, my house is a 15 minute Train ride from the Edinburgh Waverly Station, I never miss a Festival. That Video was made 5 years ago so its that long since Richard was in front of my Lens.
