I use Sonar Platinum.
Although they are part of Gibson Brands, their headquarters/offices are in Boston.
I can't say what size it is, there are parts in several folders. I've done many upgrades (I bought into the $199 lifetime upgrades program) and added VST's so there is no way for me to determine the exact file size.
The current version is 2017.01 (there is a beta 2017.02 r3 version out but it is still beta due to a problem).
I notice Ableton is missing from the list. I have a lite version that I got free for buying a Focusrite product. https://www.ableton.com/ They note their HQ is Berlin with office in Los Angeles. |

Pro Tools 12 specs are 15 GIG of hard drive space and 8 gig of ram.
It's hard to pinpoint exactly how much is used as Pro Tools, like other premium DAWS , is always backing up sessions and sending " files" to other folders within each session. Everything is saved unless you tell it not to, or delete them . At first this may seem like overkill but should you want to go back to a previous "take" it's there and available. ALL sessions.
Now that I think about , thats a feature, we set the track LOOP and can automatically record countless takes until we get it right , each take is saved with a different file name until we delete them. I assume we can keep recording over and over again until we fill up the hard drive !
Pro Tools 12 on my WIN7 PC reports 15.6 gig of space. _________________ Emmons L-II , Fender Telecasters, B-Benders , Eastman Mandolin ,

The REAPER folder on this PC shows 56 Mb of space used, not counting things like plugins that are in other folders. |

Sonar just released its latest version, 2017.02.
Sonar Platinum is listed as 20GB of hard drive space. But, it varies depending on options. |

Jack, Tony, and Les;
Thanks for your help. For some of these DAW companies it is not easy to find where they call home. They may have software writers from around the world but surely they have a home base. I looked at Pro Tools website but did not find an address. In a few more days I will update the chart to show the info you have provided.
Regards,
Charles Kurck |

I hate to nitpick on spelling, but that should be Adobe, not Adoble. Sorry, just something that nitpicks on me. |

I notice Harrison Mixbus is not on the list. I picked this up a few years ago when I was seriously considering jumping off the Avid merry-go-round. I never did but not because Mixbus was wanting.
They have two versions; $79 for Mixbus and the full bore Mixbus32C @ $299.

Thank you Tim, DG, and Joe:
I have updated the chart.
Accuracy is a goal so I encourage nitpicking.
As you can see, operator instruction manual page numbers are needed.
I will update the chart again when enough information becomes available.
Kind Regards,

Ableton, as I previously noted, is still missing from the list.
The Sonar guide is 2528 pages. The guide is for all versions, not just the Platinum version. |
