Evan; that is a Sho-bud Single-10 made during the inseption of the "The Pro-II" year(yeah around '75)and features the double raise/single lower fingers. My Sho-bud "The Pro-II" was a double neck just like that same mechanism; that I cut several Dale Watson CD's with and the Linda Lay stuff(here's a clip>We Could Clip and you can see me playing it here on the Grand Ole Opry> Big Video File of the Opry; and that Sho-bud you mentioned will sound just like it...>Killer man.

Evan.. nice steel, but keep in mind.. you would be LOSING 3 knee levers from what your GFI has... pretty tough loss going from 3+4 down to 3+1... It will probably cost $500 to get it to that 3+4 configuration, depending on if you have the ability to add the knees yourself.
It is a nice guitar however, and they sound beautiful.. I HAD one years ago and LOVED it.. It had 6 and 0!!.. I added 3 levers myself.. what great sounding guitars those S10 "pre pro" guitars are!! If you go for it I HOPE you win it!!! bob |

Dag; your right. That is a square front with Rope inlay. Must be a transition Bud into the Custom years; but Rope inlay was used; and I haven't seen very many of these AT ALL...

Same changer and underside as my LDG.... great axe. You will probably want to get 3 more levers though.

I bought a new 6139 in early 1974 and it had the rack assemblies. This is obviously a later version. I'm not sure when they abandoned those clunky racks.

Hi Ricky
Never mind the steel, your playing on the Linda Lay track is beautiful, did you play with Dale Watson when he came over to the UK in 1999 I think I saw you play in Preston on that great Jimmy Day Sho-Bud. I had been playing for 1 year then I was so impressed.

Alans right, I've been playing it over and over. I thought about buying that green Sho-Bud in Dallas, but I just don't know much about them. Hearing this makes me want one. Beautiful highs without being shrill. Course if Ricky Davis played my Zum I imagine it would sound great.

Got to say ,I just Love Buds from those years. They all seem to have there little quirks, just like all of us. I do however think that that the ones from that era seem to have that Bud tone that soooo many of us like.....but then again...what a ugly world
this would be if only the pretty birds sang

Ricky, I really enjoyed your playing on the video. And it's great to see a steel player smile while playing. |

b0b; your 6139 single-10 Professional was made during the professional years and the racks were replaced with crossbars and pullers in later '72-early'73. So you may of bought it new in '74; but it was built before that..ha..
Greg; yep those were some good times too pal. It's funny because Dale boast that his band he has now is the "Best band I've ever had"; and they are a good group of guys no doubt, but musically; what we did in the days of the "Live from London"; with Dale and I and Billy Dee(on bass) and Scott Matthews(on drums); is UNTOUCHABLE musically; with any band formation he has had or has..
But Music isn't the only thing that makes a band go around; and we in those days, were certainly 4 differently dis-functional characters for sure..ha.
