Hey there guys, I've recently purchased an MSA SuperSustain II (D-10) and it's awesome to have a new neck to learn! I recently discovered "jazzy" country songs that I can at least jam along to comfortably on the C6th. "You Have That Effect On Me" by Brad Paisley, "Right On The Money" by Alan Jackson are my top two. Do you folks have any recommendations for more "jazzy" country songs just like them? Thanks for your time.

I'm thinking Alan Jackson, "You Never Know". Off the Angels and Alcohol album. Good old rockabilly swing! Smile

All the above plus my favorite Western Swing LP. Buddy Emmons Sings Bob Wills. If you don't have the record? may be hard to come by. Anyway, most of the cuts are scattered about on youtube. New Road Under my Wheels and Boot Hill Drag are two of my favorites. The fast single string solos are fairly easy to pick out. But a bear to execute as precise Emmons. (News Flash) So, just sluff over them like the rest of us do. Very Happy

Jim's too modest to plug his on work. But he has a good demonstration exercise for playing over the 2m V 1 pattern. Plus tons of real jazz tunes on youtube. And several Jazz CD's for sale.

Doug Jernigan as well as the piano player kill me on this one. I need to work this out one day. The tune is mis-named. But here's the link.

Happy Hunting.

a lot of Merle Haggard's stuff has a jazz/swing feel, which seemed to evolve from his great Tribute to Bob Wills album.

Willie Nelson's songs often have jazzy chords and phrasing. check out his Country My Way record with the Texas Troubadours and this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKD_o4gbcSE

If you're just starting out on the C6 neck , most of Hank Williams, Sr. songs are fun to jam along with. They're actually fun for most anyone to play. Maybe not " jazzy ", but you can swing em a bit.
